Our yard is 15 minutes up US-101 in South San Francisco, so San Mateo is effectively our home turf and the deadhead line on your quote is small. No marketplace, no subcontractor, no 20–40% broker margin sitting between you and the operator. The dispatcher who prices the job is the one who sends the driver.

Distances are road miles from the San Mateo County Event Center on Saratoga Drive. Times are typical off-peak, before the 101 and 92 interchange loads up. These are runs we stage every week.
| Trip | What it usually looks like | Miles | Drive | Best vehicle |
|---|---|---|---|---|

| San Mateo County Event Center shows and fairsSaratoga Dr, Delaware St, Hillsdale Caltrain, 19th Ave | Remote-parking shuttles for fairs, expos and gate shows, where 69 seats per lap keeps the queue short and the neighborhood streets clear. | 1 | 5 min | 69-pax double-decker |
| Wedding and hotel loops, Bay Meadows and downtownBay Meadows, B Street, Hillsdale, Burlingame hotel row | Guest runs between the hotel block, ceremony and reception, sized to the porte-cochere so the bus is not parked a block away in the dark. | 2–8 | varies | 24–35-pax minibus |
| Half Moon Bay and coast day tripsCA-92 west over the hill to CA-1 | Beach days, coastal weddings and offsites where the driver is briefed on the CA-92 grade and the pullouts a full-size coach can actually use. | 15 | 30 min | 56-pax coach |
| Stanford and Palo Alto campus and game shuttlesUS-101 or El Camino Real south through Redwood City | Admitted-student days, reunions and football Saturdays, quoted with the post-game hold included because campus lots empty on their own schedule. | 16 | 25 min | 56-pax coach |

Most sites ranking for "charter bus San Mateo" do not own a single vehicle. They resell operators like us and add a margin. Here is what changes when you skip that layer.
| Question | Umbrella Global Bus | Booking marketplace |
|---|---|---|
| Who owns the vehicle? | We do. Titled, insured and maintained by Umbrella. | A third-party operator assigned after you pay, often unnamed until day-of. |
| Who is driving? | Our employee, in our DOT drug-and-alcohol program, known to our dispatch. | Whoever the assigned operator sends. |
| What is the price built from? | Our operator rate, itemized: hours, deadhead from South San Francisco, tolls, gratuity. | An operator's rate plus the platform's margin, typically 20–40%. |
| Who answers at 5:40 a.m. when the bus is late? | The dispatcher who assigned the driver, with the coach on GPS. | A call center that has to phone the operator. |
| Certificate of insurance for a venue or employer? | Issued by us, usually same business day. | Requested from the operator through the platform. |
| Can I track the bus? | Yes, a live tracking link for every trip. | Depends on the operator. |
Ranges are published so you can budget before you pick up the phone. Your quote is itemized to the hour and the mile and does not move after booking unless the trip does.
24-35 passenger minibus with driver. Foster City loops, SFO runs, wedding shuttles, campus visits.
56-passenger motorcoach. Priced per itinerary because the itinerary, tolls and return time drive the number even with a short deadhead from our yard.
Fixed daily routes for Foster City and Peninsula employers. Monthly invoicing, PO-based billing and net terms.
Always included: driver, fuel, standard insurance, live tracking. Quoted separately: tolls, parking, driver overnight on multi-day trips, gratuity if you choose to add it.
A half-day (5-hour) 24-35 passenger minibus in San Mateo typically runs $550–$850 including driver. A 56-passenger motorcoach is quoted per itinerary. Deadhead from our South San Francisco yard is only about 15 minutes here, which usually shows up as a smaller line on the quote than it would further south.
San Francisco (SFO, about 8 road miles), Oakland (OAK, about 25 miles over the San Mateo Bridge) and San Jose (SJC, about 30 miles). SFO is close enough that we can hold the coach at our own yard while a flight lands.
Yes. Recurring loops between Hillsdale Caltrain, employee lots and the Foster City office parks run on a contract rate, with fixed departures, the same drivers on the route and a live tracking link for your workplace team.
We are the operator. Umbrella Global Bus owns the vehicles, employs the drivers and runs its own dispatch and shop from South San Francisco under CPUC TCP 0037963 and USDOT 3126263, so there is no reseller margin in the number you see.
Yes. We issue the COI directly, usually the same business day, naming the Event Center, hotel or employer as certificate holder with the wording their facilities team requires.
Yes, and we run it regularly. Drivers are briefed on the grade, the turnouts and the coast-side parking that will actually hold a 45-foot coach, and on winter dates we build extra time for fog and slide closures on CA-92.
